Hull City 1-0 Bolton Wanderers

Hull City secured their first three points of the season with a narrow win over Bolton Wanderers at the KC Stadium. Kamel Ghilas combined with fellow new signing Jozy Altidore as Hull finally got back to winning ways at the expense of Bolton. Ghilas fired the decisive goal of a scrappy Barclays Premier League encounter after being set up by Altidore's first touch with 61 minutes gone. Until then Hull had been second best to Bolton, who missed clear-cut chances through Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies.

Arsenal 4-1 Portsmouth

Abou Diaby netted a brace as Arsenal continued their excellent start to the season with a win over Portsmouth. Arsenal enjoyed a comfortable win against Pompey at the Emirates Stadium to continue their impressive start to the new Barclays Premier League season. Diaby set them on their way with two first-half goals in the space of three minutes. Younes Kaboul pulled one back before the break - but William Gallas and substitute Aaron Ramsey ensured a comfortable finish as the Gunners maintained their 100 per cent Barclays Premier League record.

Birmingham City 0-0 Stoke City

The spoils were shared at St Andrews as Birmingham City and Stoke City drew in the Barclays Premier League. Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen produced a superb second-half save to deny Birmingham their second home Barclays Premier League win in the space of 72 hours. The former Denmark international kept out a bullet-like header from Blues striker Garry O'Connor at full stretch from a Sebastian Larsson free-kick. It was one of the few moments of excitement but both sides will probably be satisfied with a return of four points from their opening three matches of the campaign.

Wigan Athletic 0-5 Manchester United

Champions Manchester United bounced back from their midweek defeat with a comprehensive victory. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson had asked his side for goals and they responded in style with five in the second half at the DW Stadium. Wayne Rooney netted twice to take his tally for the club to 101. Dimitar Berbatov scored the second, Michael Owen the fourth and Nani the fifth as United recovered strongly from their shock defeat at Burnley.

Sunderland 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Kenwyne Jones scored twice as Sunderland came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers at the Stadium of Light.The Trinidad and Tobago international levelled 13 minutes before the break after being played in by Steed Malbranque.It had been all Rovers up to that point with Gael Givet firing the visitors ahead with 21 minutes gone after Black Cats old boy El-Hadji Diouf had forced Marton Fulop into a fine save.Sunderland went in front on 54 minutes when Lee Cattermole broke down the left and sent in an inviting cross for Jones to power a header past Paul Robinson.

Manchester City 1-0 Wolves

Emmanuel Adebayor scored the only goal to give Manchester City victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.The Togo star struck the opening goal at Blackburn Rovers last week and was on target again after 19 minutes when he latched onto Carlos Tevez's astute pass and beat Wayne Hennessey at his near post.It could easily have been more for the Blues too, with Robinho going close on three occasions, although Shay Given was required to make a superb save to deny Matthew Jarvis just before the break and Andy Keogh hit the bar 15 minutes from time.

Liverpool 4-0 Stoke City

Liverpool bounced back from their opening defeat with a resounding victory at Anfield.

Fernando Torres got the Merseysiders off to a flying start with a goal after just four minutes and Glen Johnson marked his home debut by scoring a spectacular second with an overhead kick on the stroke of half-time.

Dirk Kuyt grabbed the third 12 minutes from time and David Ngog rounded off the scoring in the final seconds with a close-range shot.
